Criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of osteoporosis treatment

Abstract

Currently, there are a number of effective drugs for the treatment of osteoporosis that increase bone mineral density and reduce the risk of fractures. However, till now there is no consensus of scientists on the optimal method of assessing response to treatment with osteoporosis medications. It is known that the main objective of osteoporosis treatment is prevention of bone fractures. However, in reality, for some patients it is not always possible to prevent fracture even with the help of novel drugs.
