EFFICIENCY OF SENSORY-MOTOR REHABILITATION OF ANKLE SPRAIN IN FEMALE HANDBALL PLAYERS
Abstract
This paper presents the concept of sensory-motor rehabilitation, the scientific fundamentation of the method and the results of its application on female handball players suffering from an ankle sprain. Being one of the most frequently encountered injuries in handball, the sprained ankle is often treated superficially and can have multiple consequences for the athlete reaching up to serious functional deficits that lead to a decreased efficiency of the player and even to seizing the sports activity. Due to the need to treat and prevent ankle sprain consequences, we assumed that the intervention on the sensory-motor system can have beneficial effects on the functionality of the ankle. After applying the specific assessment tests, as well as the rehabilitation exercises, we have managed to identify sensory-motor problems and intervene objectively by chiropractic means.
