Towards correction of the JCGM international vocabulary of metrology

Abstract

The definitions of seven core metrological terms and three related terms in the third edition of the International Vocabulary of Metrology are reviewed. Some defects are observed. Proposals are offered for discussion to correct these defects. Carefully developed concepts, terms and definitions improve understanding, practice, and communication.
