Literature and grammar originate from society and are based on the flourishment of arts and literature. Thus, “Tolkappiyam” is a symbol of the Tamil language and a treatise about the pride of the language and literary merit of the Tamils. Tamil linguistics and life are reflected in this work. A philologist or a literary creator is the one who is the master of a certain language. When trying to examine work on the basis of language, one can find the origin and development of the language and the interaction of another language. In that case, Tolkappiyam is based on linguistic research that is largely based on the folklife of the Sangam Tamils. If we look at the words, they decode the origins of “Tolkappiyam” as Kumarimunai. Hence, this article expands on the hypothesis that the origins of “Tolkappiyam” could be Kumarikandam (Lemuria).
