The VER-SUS was developed by the Ministry of Health in conjunction with the student corporations and municipal health departments to offer students experiences and internships in SUS. The aim of this study is to report the experiences of students in primary care in Nova Lacerda (MT) and Porto Alegre (RS) in order to corroborate them with the framework of public health and identify potential flaws in the units. The analysis was qualitative in nature about an experience report. The main objects of analysis in primary care were the Health Program (PSF I) and (PSF II) of MT between July 23 until July 27 of 2012 in relation to the Family Health Strategy I (ESF I) and (ESF II), the RS in the period from January 25 until day 6 February 2013. Differences were noted between the PSFs and ESFs and also in the composition of the teams and in the reception. The dispensation of medicines occurs differently and there are groups of hypertensive and diabetic (HIPERDIA) units. Thus, although the units seek common goals for positive results were observed different ways of working with the principles of primary health care in each county.
