Brexit як ключове слово британського політичного дискурсу

DOI: https://doi.org/10.17721/APULTP.2023.46.49-70 У центрі уваги дослідження – неологізм Brexit, що визначається Оксфордським словником англійської мови як "(запропонований) вихід Сполученого Королівства з Європейського Союзу та пов'язаний з цим політичний процес". Іменник Brexit вважають найбільшим внеском політики у сферу мови за останні 40 років. Політичний новотвір став інтернаціоналізмом: набув глобального статусу та увійшов в інші мови у своєму первісному значенні та формі. У 2016 році Brexit був обраний словом року за версією словника Collins і включений до Оксфордського словника англійської мови. У роботі розглянуто особливості використання неологізму у ЗМІ та обґрунтовано його статус як ключового слова британського політичного дискурсу. Матеріалом дослідження слугували тексти британських ЗМІ (онлайн-версії друкованих видань) і дані англомовного корпусу NOW (News on the Web) за травень 2012 року – січень 2023 року. Доведено, що іменник Brexit має такі ознаки ключового слова: суспільна значущість, загальновживаність, висока частотність, використання у сильних позиціях ЗМІ, метафоризація значення, висока словотвірна активність. Загальний інтерес до брекзиту та його активне обговорення у британському суспільстві викликали різке зростання випадків уживання слова Brexit (на 3 400%), а також використання слова у сильних позиціях ЗМІ: на обкладинках журналів, перших шпальтах газет, у назвах рубрик і заголовках публікацій. Слово опинилося у центрі численних мовних рефлексій, що розширило його значення і викликало появу нових асоціацій і конотацій і, як наслідок, контроверсійність семантики неологізму. З 2016 року спостерігалася активізація словотворчого потенціалу іменника Brexit. В англійській мові утворився глосарій брекзиту, так званий Brexit glossary або Brexicon, що містить неологізми, які походять від іменника Brexit, і лексику, на появу якої він "надихнув". До глосарія також увійшли політичні терміни, що перейшли до складу загальновживаної лексики, й слова та вирази, які в контексті референдуму набули нових значень.Найбільшим внеском слова Brexit в англійську мову став продуктивний суфікс -exit, використання якого поширилося за межі політичного дискурсу.
