Optimization of process parameters of cotton/spandex elastic wrapped composite yarns
Abstract
Regulation and optimization of manufacturing process parameters of yarn can provide theoretical and practical basis for obtaining excellent yarn quality. In order to evaluate the comprehensive performances of cotton/spandex elastic wrapped composite yarns, four kinds of wrapped yarns were fabricated based on a hollow-spindle wrap spinning system, and some key processing parameters during yarn fabricating process were adjusted such as the applied twist of wrap component, and the elastane draw ratio of core spandex component. Yarn quality indices such as breaking strength, extension at break, elastic elongation, elastic recovery rate, abrasion resistance and wicking height were systematically characterized. Finally, the yarn quality was evaluated comprehensively based on principal component analysis method. The results indicate that the highest comprehensive score of principal component analysis is 1.061 2, the optimized process parameters for fabricating elastic wrapped composite yarns are wrap twist of 800 T/m and the elastane draw ratio of 2.0. Such fundamental work can provide reference for the further development of wild-type elastic wrapped composite yarn products.
