HOSPITALITY VOCABULARY IN THE RUSSIAN LINGUISTIC WORLD IMAGE
Abstract
The research into the hospitality vocabulary is thought to be relevant as it has been insufficiently studied so far, while this type of the vocabulary reflects the national identity, value system of the ethnos, national characteristics. Moreover, it may change over time. The purpose is to identify connotations and ways of using the hospitality vocabulary in modern Russian. Research methods: descriptive-analytical, structural-semantic, contextual analysis. Results. The article describes the words related to the topic of invitations, feasting and giving parties, their meanings are compared with the interpretation in the lexicographical practice as well as the historical semantic shifts in the meanings are traced. The authors observe lexical combinability of the words, their functioning in the literary style, publicistic texts and Internet communication. The results of the study can be used in lexicography and translation practice, in the teaching lexicology and cultural linguistics.
