The successfully reunification of families with care experienced children (children who are looked after away from home) involves the carer’s support of the family in the context of relationship-based practice and constructing a shared assessment and narrative around the child. Practice is informed by an understanding of the impact of trauma on children and adults. It is based on hearing the informed views of children and young people when successfully planning family reunification. This work requires collaborative work with the family’s social worker.
