the Risk Factors for the Incidence of Obesity in Students at STIKes Hang Tuah Pekanbaru 2020

Obesity is the accumulation of excess body fat that can pose health risks to individuals. Obesity is still a health problem. From Basic Health Research data (2018), Indonesia has obesity sufferers as much as 31.0% while for Riau Province obesity sufferers are 33.5%. Pekanbaru City ranks 11th in Riau Province with obesity sufferers as much as 1,880 or 36.35% and for the STIKes Hang Tuah Pekanbaru students with obesity in 2018 were 170 or 24.0%. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors for obesity among students at STIKes Hang Tuah Pekanbaru in 2020. This type of research is analytical with quantitative methods with cross sectional research design. The location of this research was conducted at STIKes Hang Tuah Pekanbaru in July-August 2020. The research sample was 154 respondents. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with grouping based on programs study. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analysis, using the chi-square test. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that the variables associated with the incidence of obesity in students were knowledge (p value = 0,000, POR = 19,697), sleep duration (p value = 0,000, POR = 4,362), physical activity (p value = 0,000, POR = 4,006). , diet (p value = 0.003, POR = 0.353). It is suggested to STIKes Hang Tuah Pekanbaru to hold activities related to obesity prevention such as morning exercise routines and posters about obesity.
