EPISTOLARY SOURCES IN BIOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH: “CAUCASIAN LETTERS” BY A.P.ERMOLOV

Abstract

The article deals with potentials of sources of personal origin, particularly, epistolary heritage for doing biographical research. The author studies “Caucasian Letters” by A.P.Ermolov - a person whose name symbolizes a particular era in the history of the Caucasus. The letters contain interesting observations on life in the North Caucasus in the XIX-th century.
