The influence of the carbonization conditions of palm kernel in the hardnessof the produced char was established. attrition process was tested with differentchars evaluating the increase of hardness and carbon loss. active carbon-phe-nolic or epoxy resins composites were produced by impregnation and polyme-rization of resins on active carbon surface. an attritioned active carbon andphenolic resins composites with 99% hardness are obtained. such productscan adsorb a 100% of the soluble gold cyanide complex in the cyanidation -carbon in pulp (ciP) process, tested with a gold sulfide ore (9 g/ton au, 19%pyrite, 75% quartz) from the Portovelo deposit, Ecuador.
