Tolerance in the present situation is a major problem that is considered in the article. A question is considered in relation to the role of tolerance for society, including analysis of its importance in the period of globalization. Globalization strengthens international and interpersonal relationships, resulting in grows the danger of hostility and rejection. Thus, in the process of intercultural communication arises an urgent need for understanding. The process of globalization requires from different cultures to search the instruments of interaction, settle for compromises. Thus, for understanding of other culture it is necessary to overcome stereotypes and become tolerant. One of the features lines of this time there is imposing of western model of development all cultures without the account of their identity. Today, globalization is often associated with Westernization. Westernization is reorientation of societies or cultures on the countries of the West, borrowing of their cultural elements. The threat of origin of conflict situations appears as a result of introduction of foreign elements. Therefore, tolerance becomes basis in the conditions of collision of cultures. Tolerance as mean of successful cultural integration is analysed. Today’s society requires new methods of communication in basis of which respect lies to the cultures of different peoples, deferential attitude toward stranger tradition. Tolerance is respect and recognition of equality, the rejection of domination and violence, rich cultural diversity of our world. It is proved that nowadays tolerance is a condition of harmony of different cultures. Special actuality the theme of tolerance obtains in the conditions of creation of single cultural space. As a result of cultural standardization arises up threat of loss of own cultural features. In such conditions increases aspiring of national cultures to preserve of own originality. Thus, tolerance is provided by tolerant attitude toward a variety. Every historical epoch creates the own forms of tolerance, which represent the pictures fastened in public consciousness of limits of tolerance and unacceptable in this time, in this culture. In the article the features of tolerance as socio-cultural values of modern society. Tolerance is recognized as a significant public value, which is the basis of mutual understanding between people belonging to different cultures, nationalities and religions. Tolerance as a value foresees perception of cultural differences.
