Objective Under the equipotential connection method between platform door system and steel rail, once the ground insulation of the platform door system weakens, the discharge is prone to occur. In order to ensure passengers′ safety, effective insulation safeguard measures for the platform door should be taken based on this method. Method The advantages of equipotential connection of the platform door and the steel rail are analyzed from the two dimensions of the electrical insulation mechanism of the platform door and human electrical safety. A rail potential calculation model is established to simulate the rail potential at the platform door under normal and extreme working conditions. The influence of the parameters of the return current system on the above mentioned rail potential under normal working conditions is analyzed by using the method of changing the value of one single parameter at a time, and the distribution curve of the above rail potential under extreme working conditions is calculated. The testing method and the relevant maintenance measures for the platform door insulation are put forward. Result & Conclusion When the equipotential connection method of the platform door system and the steel rail is used, the maximum value of the rail potential should not exceed 60 V. Under extreme working conditions, the rail potential at the platform door may exceed the above threshold, which may pose threat to the physical safety of the passengers. Therefore, it is necessary to take effective measures to ensure the effectiveness of the platform door insulation.
