this article discusses how to understand the nature of science within the teaching of sciences using an approach focused on STS that helps us to develop a scientific education based on social problems regarding science and technology. In this regard, we review briefly the transition from a traditional idea of science and technology to a social image of these fields. Likewise, we describe the point of view of the STS approach in education which aims its efforts at a more centered, reflexive, and critical teaching of science. Finally, we offer an assessment on how to integrate the nature of science from a STS approach in science teaching from the perspective of citizen education.
