Contemporary debates about new technologies involved in the circuits of production, dissemination and reception of images revive some propositions suggested by Henri Bergson in the context of non-mediated relations between subject and object. Within this framework it’s relevant to inquiry how machinical mediations – that is, mechanical, electronic and digital – are altering the perceptive activity in such a way to displace positions traditionally occupied by the subject and the object. Departing from the theoretical contributions of Henri Bergson, Gilles Deleuze, Raymond Bellour and Mark Hansen, the thesis hopes to dimension the reconfigurations processed in the ambit of digital photography and image. The key point of this critical journey is located in the affective experience and in the corporeal involvement of the spectator in situations of installations that rely on photography as their main agent. In a complementary way, the notion of corporeal perception highlights the transformations processed in the ambit of the observer, who is requested to perform more active functions in the context of the installations.
