Impressions d’une autre époque ? Antonio Henrique Amaral et Ferreira Gullar entre avant-garde et art populaire au Brésil
Abstract
This article discusses the album of engravings entitled O meu e o seu. Impressões do nosso tempo, released in 1967 by Antonio Henrique Amaral (1935-2015), with an introduction by Ferreira Gullar (1930-2016). This album represented a dialogue between a young artist concerned with social issues and a renowned left-wing poet and art critic who had renounced avant-garde ideals to prove that the artist should express the reality in which he lives. At the time, they shared a desire to react to the Brazilian political situation as well as a strong interest in popular art, especially literatura de cordel.
