The developments till the land battles after 18 March 1915 revealed two different practices. Strait command was primarily responsible for the developments in land and sea regions. As from 19 March, Turks reinforced the two seasides with artilleries, laid mines, and placed parade floats. Ground troops increased the frequency of observations and spotting. In addition, defence and training preparations were attached more importance. On the other hand, Allied Aircraft and United Fleet continued bombing the entrance of the Dardanelles and the surrounding region. On 17 April, an E-15 submarine was seized by Turks, who captivated the crew, including Palmer, the British vice-consul to Çanakkale. The supreme command established the 5th army for land battles and put German Marshal Liman von Sanders (26 March 1915) in charge thereof. Since Liman Pasha expected amphibian landing in Bolayır and Anatolia, he decided to station two divisions in Bolayır and two on the Anatolian (Kumkale) side. When entente powers occupied the summit of Alçıtepe and Kocaçimentepe, divisions were planned to gather on the Kilitbahir plateau. They would destroy defence cannons on the coastline and clean mine lines. As a conclusion, united fleet stationed in the entrance of the Dardanelles would sail to Istanbul and “the glorious Britain” the empire on which the sun never sets, would become more famous after all, and the world war would be ended.
