CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE J20 PROPOSALS AND DISCUSSIONS ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Environmental and climatic issues have impacted the lives of millions of people around the world, with the most vulnerable populations being the hardest hit. In this context, it is essential to discuss the role of international courts in the climate crisis. This paper aims to understand how the topics of climate litigation and sustainable development are being addressed by the J20, with a focus on the contribution of the Brazilian Supreme Court. To achieve these objectives, a documentary, bibliographic, and exploratory survey was conducted, with the results analyzed using qualitative analysis methods based on empirical data and content analysis. Initially, the discussions of the J20 are systematized, focusing on the theme of sustainable development, and, in the final section, critical analyses of the Brazilian Supreme Court’s contribution to the promotion of sustainable development are presented.
