INTRODUCTION: People build their world image in relation to stories they hear from family and friends, news that they observe in the mass media... School environment influence is relevant as well, especially from subjects such as Geography, which not only presents facts and data in the world but also a representation of the planet on a map. In this article we provide empirical evidence on the mental construction of the world map by Teacher Training students of Valencia. By this, we want to show the need to work this content on cartographic skills to prevent deformation of the explanation of the planet Earth and its problems.
