High blood pressure is a recognized health problem. It affects more than 30 % of the adult population in the world. It is considered the most important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, especially coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease; chronic kidney disease, heart failure and dementia, contributes to global morbidity and mortality. In Cuba, its high prevalence has been proven, a proportion that increases with age. With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, arterial hypertension has been reinforced its leading role, which it already had as a “tracer condition” of chronic non-communicable diseases in health services, now also as an important marker in the most cases of severe respiratory infection SARS-CoV-2. Maintaining adequate blood pressure figures is an important recommendation for maintaining people's health, also now in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic
