The introduction section in academic experimental articles of disciplinary culture of pyschology: a socio rhetorical study
Abstract
This study aims to describe how the Psychology area produces and comprises the Introduction section in experimental academic articles. As a theoretical basis, we rely on Swales (1990), both in relation to concepts involving academic genres as in relation to its theoretical and methodological model CARS (Create a Research Space). Regarding the study of disciplinary cultures, we have theorical contributions from Hyland (2000). Thus, this article, which is defined as a study of exploratory and descriptive nature, presents a corpus of 30 copies of academic articles, which are from 10 journals of Psychology area, indexed in WebQualis Capes database. According to this research, we realized that the introduction unit is configured as extensive section, which shows, in its composition, mentions to revious research, research presentation and delimitation goals.
