The article highlights the phenomenon of digital volunteering, outlines its interpretation, analyses current research on this issue by foreign and Russian authors undertaken in recent years. Digital volunteering is a relatively new phenomenon that is gaining popularity all over the world and in Russian society in particular. Researchers have recorded a significant increase in web platforms and organisations that provide participation opportunities for online volunteers. This includes websites, apps and social networks where people can find social projects of interest and participate in them. The article contains the results of the author's sociological research (Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, 2024) conducted in the form of a mass representative questionnaire survey of students. The results of the study revealed the awareness, interest and readiness of young people to participate in digital volunteering activities. The results of the study are necessary for building effective strategies to attract young people to participate in the implementation of socially significant projects.
