Genotype by environment interactions of sugar beet varieties
Abstract
Sugar beet is the most important plant species for crystal sugar production for our agro-ecological conditions. Crystal sugar yield of variety is determinate by its root yield, sugar content and recoverable sugar. Twelve sugar beet varieties were evaluated during 1997 and 1998 years thru micro experiments conducted in Novi Sad, Sombor and Kikinda. Design of trials was completely randomized block design in five replications. Adaptability and stability traits of varieties were assessed by AMMI model. For all examined traits main effects and their interactions were significant except for interaction effect of sugar content. Higher root yield (71.40 t/ha) and crystal sugar yield (10.10 t/ha) has variety Delta while highest sugar content (16.57%) and recoverable sugar (14.33 %) showed variety Crvenka MZ. .
