TREATABLE OF THE SLAUGHTER HOUSE WASTEWATERS OF ERZURUM
Abstract
The slaughterhouse in Erzurum, which is a subject in this study has not set up its own wastewater treatment establishment yet. The wastewater, especially occured during slaughtering and processing of meat, contained high level of COD, BOD5, total suspended solid, fat and grease and suspended solid. As a result, this wastewater may cause a kind of environmental problem in this region. For this reason some laboratory studies have been carried out to present the unrefined wastewater from the slaughterhouse which may be harmful to the environment. The wastewater of the Erzurum slaughterhouse was examined from the point of physical, biological treatment under the laboratory conditions, anaerobic-aerobic and aerobic treatment (by the method of activated sludge), under the greenhouse and laboratory conditions, facultative refinery studies were made in these studies. Finally, the data are discussed and the proposals were given.
