Living between Lakes and Alps: A Data Set of Bronze Age Archaeological Sites from the Canton of Bern, Switzerland (2200–800 BCE)

Abstract

The dataset contains all known Bronze Age sites in the present-day canton of Bern (Switzerland) up to December 2023, including evidence for settlements, burials, trade/transport, depositions and single finds. It was provided by the Archaeological Service of the canton of Bern (ADB) in the form of an Excel data file and was supplemented by a literature review for our research. It was then processed as a CSV data file for the mapping of settlement dynamics using Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS). This was based on the 336 records that remained after data cleaning.
