Jeremiah 36 - Speaking of Words

Abstract

God sends His word to His people through his prophet. But what are the people to make of the words? Is salvation possible or has the historical sequence of events long been prescribed by the eternal God. Jeremiah and Jehoiakim, like the words they use, both prefigure and themselves serve as analogues for the events that take place and their destiny seems to be inescapable. Is it possible to be saved from the sequence of cause and effect?
