A new genus of the family Glaphyridae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) from the Mesozoic of China

Paraglaphyrus gen. n. with 4 new species, P. yixianensis sp. n. (type species), P. subtilis sp. n., P. robustus sp. n. and P. ovalis sp. n. from the Yixian Formation of China are described. Diagnosis of the genus: mandibles and labrum produced beyond apex of clypeus; eye partly divided by genal lobe; scutellum triangular; mesoepimeron clearly visible from above between pronotum and elytron; elytra convex and thin, without longitudinal carina; pygidium exposed beyond apices of elytra; protarsus shorter than the male protibia; mesocoxae not widely separated; metatibia with one transverse carina on external surface; males metatibial spur with angularly tubercle near the middle; first tarsomer of hind legs is very long. Fossils were collected from Liaoning Province, China. The holotypes of new genera are deposited in College of Life Science, Capital Normal University, Beijing.
