The film Donner la parole ("Giving Voice") from Raymond Depardon presents portraits of people whose language, culture and identity are on the verge of disappearing. Could this film be interpreted as a mediation device reinventing the gesture of hospitality in the age of globalization? If so, in what sense and for what effects? This is what this contribution seeks to explore using this documentary as a vehicle to explore the hospitality approaches of two authors in social sciences: Pierre Bourdieu and Paul Ricœur. This analysis drives us to formulate the hypothesis that the contributions of these authors to the topic of hospitality  as a device of sociological hospitality for the first ; as a device of narrative hospitality for the second  unfolds between the poles of "hospitality-sameness" and "hospitality-alterity", and presents an unexpected convergence on the potentials of artistic mediation.
