SOME NOTES ON THE PHILOSOPHY AT SCHOOL
Abstract
This paper presents some notes on the role of Philosophy in the school education. It brings some elements about the contribution of Philosophy to the primary, secondary and higher education, and focuses on the role of humanistic education in relation to technical education. The contributions of Philosophy to the construction of knowledge are unquestionable, even when the school deals with the production of scientific knowledge, highly valued in the contemporary society. Parallelly to the world of Science, man continues to search for answers about life and its meaning, and the object of Philosophy is to deal with this search for answers concerning mans amazement towards the world. In this sense, the role of Philosophy in the school education is of the highest importance; however, it is often concealed for the sake of Science, understood as the only possibility to obtain the answers to all the questions in order to provide us a better and happier life. This paper is therefore based on the conflict between the scientific and humanistic perspectives and presents the contributions of Philosophy to school education.
