Adolescencia: Aspectos generales y atención a la salud Adolescence: General aspects and health care
Abstract
Se describen algunas características de la adolescencia, así como su concepto y clasificación, y se presentan datos referidos a esta población en Cuba, que incluyen información sociodemográfica y de salud. Se reseña la temática de la importancia del núcleo básico social en el desarrollo y acompañamiento eficaz durante la etapa, y se comenta acerca del Programa Cubano de Atención Integral a la Salud de Adolescentes. Se ofrece igualmente información sobre la fecundidad y los principales problemas de morbilidad y mortalidad entre los adolescentes cubanos. Las estadísticas de mortalidad se presentan en lo concerniente a las primeras causas. Es esbozada la importancia de la educación sexual en estas edades.Some characteristics of adolescence, as well as its concept and classification are described. Data referring to this population in Cuba that include sociodemographic and health information are given. The topic on the importance of the basic social nucleus in the development and efficient accompanying during this stage is reviewed, and comments are made on the Cuban Program for the Comprehensive Health Care of Adolescents. Information on the fertility and the main poblems of morbidity and mortality among the Cuban adolescents is given. Mortality statistics are presented in relation to the first causes. The importance of sexual education at this age is outlined.
