The amount of municipal solid waste is increasing due to increasing world population. This study was carried out to evaluate the possibilities of using urban solid waste in agriculture without harming the environment. The effects of solid waste compost and their dosages on yield, quality and heavy metal contents of tomato plant were investigated. The experiment under greenhouse conditions was conducted in randomized complete block design with six treatments (0-2-4-6-8-10 t da-1) and four replications for two years. In order to determine effects of applications fruit and soil samples were taken and analyzed. The results of analysis showed that urban solid waste depending on dosages increased the yield, the pH and EC of fruit juice, amount of water soluble solids, titretable acidity and lycopene amount compared to control. Fruit and soil heavy metal content were within the acceptable range limits.
