Abstract
Imagine an author living in the days of Kant, who influenced him, but at the same time followed his own path... Imagine that this author criticized some phases of Kantian thought, developing an original approach to issues as important as objectivity, or even the transcendental... Such an author should be considered an important protagonist in the history of philosophy, offering opportunities for original thought. He should enjoy a great reputation and be studied by many commentators. Such an author exists. He is called Johann Nikolaus Tetens. However, only a few experts know his work.
