OIL- AND GAS-BEARING POTENTIAL SEA AREAS OF THE EAST EUROPEAN PLATFORM

Abstract

The history of geological exploration and search of oil and gas in the sea areas of the Eastern European platform — the Sea of Azov-the Black Sea and Barents Sea is illustrated. The structure of hydrocarbon deposits is described. The main stages of geotectonic development and the geodynamic conditions of formation of oil- and gas-bearing provinces of the sea areas of the platform were elab- orated, which allows to detail prospects and target search-and-reconnaissance work based on in- depth analysis of the latest and reinterpretation of previously obtained geological materials, and eval- uate their hydrocarbon potential.
