Dependence of the structure, optical, and dynamic properties of novel cadmium phosphate glass on vanadium content

Novel cadmium phosphate glass containing vanadium has been investigated as a non–linear optical material. The densities and molar volumes of the invert glasses were estimated using Archimedes method. The structural properties of the prepared glasses were examined via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy as well as Raman spectroscopy. The optical transmittance was measured using UV–visible spectroscopy in the photon wavelength ranging from 200 nm to 800 nm to detect the optical absorption edge, optical transition, optical band gap, refractive index, and dielectric constant. Non-linear optical trends were deduced from the optical studies. The correlation between the structural and physical properties of such glasses has been investigated. Moreover, the role of cadmium as a glass former and vanadium content as a glass modifier and former have also been examined. The dynamic properties were experimentally calculated using a free vibration test and simulated with finite element analysis. The results revealed that vanadium content has an impact on dynamic behavior.
