QUANTIFICAÇÃO DOS SEDIMENTOS EM SUSPENSÃO E DE FUNDO NO MÉDIO RIO ARAGUAIA - SUSPENSION AND BED LOAD SEDIMENTS QUANTIFICATION IN MIDDLE ARAGUAIA RIVER
Abstract
The study describes the bedload of the Araguaia River in Goiás, Luis Alves region (13°13´S, 50°35´W),between the mouth of the Crixás-açú River and the Bananal Island, central region of Brazil. It was utilizedthe Struckrath method in order to evaluate the dunes diary displacement, through depthsounder , and theVan Rijn that utilizes hydraulic equation to evaluate mainly the water velocity in the channel, sedimentdiameter, channel slope and average depth. The results were compared with the Araguaia bedload in theAruanã region. In the studied site of Luis Alves the dunes migrated at the taxes of 7.1 m/day and 49.7 m/week; the average water velocity was 1.25 m/sec, corresponding to a total transport of 2195.6 ton ofbedload/day. When compared the methods in order to verify possible error sources, the Van Rijn methodshowed a difference of 1414 ton, 0.06% less in relation to the Strucckrath method. When compared tothe Araguaia region in Aruanã, the difference was 313954 ton/year more in the studied site.
