Identification of six Cytospora species on Chinese chestnut in China

Abstract

Chinese chestnut (Castanea mollissima) is an important crop tree species in China. In present study, Cytospora specimens were collected from Castanea mollissima in China, and identified using both morphological and molecular approaches. As a result, three new Cytospora species and three new host records were confirmed, viz. C. kuanchengensis sp. nov., C. shaanxiensis sp. nov., C. xinglongensis sp. nov., C. ceratospermopsis, C. leucostoma and C. schulzeri.
