Le développement des associations de hemşehri en Turquie (1933-2003) à l’échelle nationale et départementale

Abstract

Using original sources provided by the Turkish Minister for the Interior, the author analyses the phenomena of the development of hometown associations at a regional and national level. As a result, we see that if Ankara and Istanbul play a key role, the phenomenon is a much larger one, and that especially from the 1990s, a number of administrative regions were implicated. Moreover, the author finds that the political background is the factor which best explains regional differences.
