Russianisms in Klaić’s Dictionary of Foreign Words

Abstract

Dictionary of Foreign Words by Bratoljub Klaić represents a masterpiece of Croatian lexicography. Russian foreign words, as object of our interest, are analyzed based on their entry in the Dictionary (1951 – 2012 period), and the way they are defined and determined as of the Russian origin. The conclusion is that the actuality and the treatment of facts in the Dictionary have deteriorated since 1978 edition, when Klaić sold his copyrights.
