Décryptage anthroponymique et ancrage culturel des prénoms des nouveau-nés dans la ville d’El Eulma

Abstract

The present contribution explores the reasons underlying the choice of names for newborns in the year 2018 in the city of El-Eulma, Algeria. Our investigation focuses on the various motivations behind the naming choices, adopting an onomastic perspective. In this contribution, we examine and propose several interpretations of the gathered data in order to unveil the subtleties and intrigues related to the aforementioned naming choices. Through this exploration, we aim to shed light on cultural, societal, and familial influences shaping the selection of names, contributing to a deeper understanding of naming practices within this specific context.
