Rational design, synthesis, and anticancer evaluation of pyridine and substituted aryl linked 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives

A new series of Pyridine and substituted aryl linked 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives (7a-j) were designed, synthesized and evaluated for their anticancer activities against HeLa, MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, and A549 cell lines by using standard MTT reduction assay protocol with doxorubicin as standard drug. It is very important to mention that all these synthesized derivatives do not show any cytotoxicity on HEK-293 kidney cell lines. Among them, the compound 7d showed better activity against HeLa and MCF-7 cell lines with IC50 values of 1.8 ± 0.3 µM and 1.3 ± 0.11 µM.
