The tomb-cromlech of Mezora is one of the most important but also enigmatic protohistoric monuments of ancient Morocco. It has been the object of several studies since the 19th century that have provided date and interpretations. The present work reviews the state of the matter, based on the contributions made in recent years on different aspects of the monument. In addition, documentation is presented for the first time from the archives of C.L. de Montalbán, the archaeologist who excavated the monument between 1934 and 1936. His original descriptions of his otherwise unpublished excavations are illuminating on a number of points of interpretation, as too is material from the vast photographic collection on the works carried out.
