Abstract
Currently, a tourist area aims the new global context, such as: the economic issue, which requires an articulation in favor of corporate interests, the social and environmental factors, that in a special shape allow to meet the aspirations of the contemporary regional development. The aim of this study is based on the validation of the model proposed by Chow and Chen (2011) to the perception analysis in relation to the sustainable regional development in touristic region. For this purpose, it was performed a survey quantitative research with 465 people of the municipalities Gramado, Canela and Nova Petrópolis in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. To its validation, primarily, it was performed the calculus of Cronbach´s alpha, followed by an exploratory factor analysis. Afterwards it was used the Pearson correlation coefficient and structural equations modeling. As a result it was found that the model is suitable to measure the sustainable regional development sustainable.
