DYNAMICS OF C-REACTIVE PROTEIN CONTENT IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING RADICAL PHLEBECTOMY ON THE LOWER LIMB
Abstract
Objective. Study of the possibility of determining the content of C-reactive protein (CRP) in the blood serum of patients as a quantitative criterion of effectiveness in radical phlebectomy on the lower limb. Material and methods. The prospective non-randomized observational study involved 34 patients. To achieve this goal, patients were divided into groups: group 1 – patients with normal CRP content before surgery up to 5 mg/l (n=29); group 2 – patients with increased CRP content before surgery (n=5). The age of patients in all patients of both groups ranged from 32 to 69 years. Patients underwent radical phlebectomy on the lower limb with the removal of a large saphenous vein with varicose-expanded branches and subfascial ligation of the perforant veins. Results. At stage 1 of the study (before surgery), the serum CRP content in all patients of both groups was equal to 0.49 (0.17; 2.21) mg/l, at stage 2 (20-24 hours after surgery), a significant increase in CRP was observed, which was 13.73 (7.24; 20.19) mg/l (p0.05). At stage 3, the level of CRP was equal to: 23.35 (13.45; 48.85) mg / l in group 1 and 42.27 (17.14; 52.65) mg/l in group 2 (p>0.05). Conclusion. The level of CRP in the blood serum can be used as a criterion for the effectiveness of surgery in the early postoperative period.
