The paper provides the analysis of the existing solutions for the flow control mechanisms of the well-known industrial protocols (Infiniband, Fibre Channel, PCI Express, USB 3.1), protocols for mobile communications (UniPro), protocols for global networks (TCP/IP) and onboard networks (SpaceWire, GigaSpaceWire, SpaceFibre, JRDDP, SpaceWire-R, RapidIO, STP). Current analysis resulted in the Flow Control mechanism that was proposed during the development of the new transport protocol STP-ISS for the onboard networks.
