In this study, energy efficiency studies have been realized in a natural gas fueled boiler, which has been operating at the pressure value of 7 bar and temperature of 185 °C with a nominal capacity of 4200 kg/h vapor in an industrial establishment. In this context, there have been some measurements were realized to form energy and mass balances in the boiler. The energy and mass balances have been established by using the measurement data such as pressure, temperature, velocity, and gas analysis. By using the energy and mass balances, boiler efficiency, potential energy saving areas, savings amounts, investment costs and payback periods are calculated, accordingly. By using the measured data, the boiler efficiency was also calculated as %90,20. The main efficiency losses can be listed as; operating the boiler at the high air excessiveness coefficient, surface thermal losses and high flue gas temperatures. By operating the boiler at optimum excess air coefficients, the energy and financial savings can be realized as the amount of 222.471.949 kcal and 6.742 USD per year, respectively; by eliminating surface heat losses, the energy and financial savings can be achieved as the amount of 171.525.170,8 kcal and 5.198 USD per year, respectively; by recovering the flue gas temperature the energy and financial savings can be obtained as the amount of 764.717.800 kcal and 18.538,62 USD per year, respectively.
