Je vous offre une Ève scientifique : Villiers au présent
Abstract
This article proposes an analysis of the relationship between the natural and the artificial in the Symbolist novel L’Ève future by Villiers de L’Isle-Adam, highlighting the connections with other works on the applications of electricity. We show how the book uniquely and ironically addresses technological hubris, offering an important reflection on a subject that became a major philosophical issue in the following century. Published in 1886, L’Ève future anticipates contemporary bioethical concerns of the era of artificial intelligence and the transformation of humans by the technoscience, ultimately revealing the prospective resources of the literature.
