Self-Disclosure and its Relationship to Self-Efficacy and the Ability to Solve Problems among Student Counselees
Abstract
The study aims to identify the level of self-disclosure among counselees in Madaba governorate, and its relationship to self-efficacy and their ability to solve problems. To achieve the objectives of the study, a self-disclosure scale, a self-efficacy scale, and a problem-solving scale were used, and the validity and reliability of the scales were verified. The study sample consisted of 216 male and female students (scientific, literary) from public schools. Among the most important results shown by the study is the existence of a direct relationship between self-disclosure and self-efficacy on the total score of the student counselees from the first grade of secondary school in Madaba Governorate. The results revealed a direct relationship between self-disclosure and the ability to solve problems among student counselees from the first grade of secondary school from High School in Madaba Governorate. Among the most important recommendations that came out of this study is to conduct more research on self-disclosure of adolescent students in order to improve the level of mental health, to manage and control emotions, and to hold courses and workshops to educate school counselors about the importance of self-disclosure and its psychological benefits for students to facilitate the process of integration, social harmony and a sense of acceptance.
