EUGEN SIMION’S POINT OF VIEW ABOUT THE AUTHOR’S STATUS IN THE BIOGRAPHICAL TEXT

Abstract

The author’s status and authority in the literary work have been contested several times so far. With memoir boom, life storytelling has become pervasive and deliberations on the author’s place and presence in the text have emerged as a distinct area of study. The present article aims at presenting Eugen Simion’s point of view about the author’s status in the literary works in general and in the autobiographical ones in particular. The Romanian critic has been searching for the signs of the author in the text so persistently, that it has become the obsession of his critical activity and his series of very important studies centred on this problem are of great importance.
