Leopold Lafontaine (1756–1812). Pt. 1. Physician
Abstract
Undeservedly forgotten, Leopold Lafontaine, a Warsaw physician living at the turn of the 19th century, was a man who contributed greatly to the development of medical culture in Poland. He sought the creation of a military medical school in Warsaw, and later was a lecturer there. He acknowledged the important role of surgeons’ vocational training by introducing special exams and his engagement in the organizational aspects of public health led to many innovations.
